Large Handwoven Basket with Lid

I have never seen a woven basket this large, standing at around 16 inches tall and 2 feet in diameter, it's perfect for plants, blankets, toys....small children....you name it! I suspect this is a handwoven item someone brought back from some exotic trip, but that may be my imagination running wild ;) 

As with all vintage wicker/basket type items there is a bit of wear and tear, it doesn't sit quiet straight on the floor, and there are a few "loose"  ends (especially in the decorative weaving), but still structurally sound! I believe this housed a plant in a previous life, and there is some staining on the bottom fibres.
